About Me

Hey, I’m Megumi, a writer, strategist, certified sommelier, and former actor with a career that spans brand marketing, media production, and hospitality. I help people and companies tell better stories, whether I’m shaping a brand, producing an event, or translating complex ideas into something that actually connects.

I was born in Tokyo and raised between cultures—splitting my time between the rink and the recording studio as a nationally ranked figure skater and voice actor for NHK’s animated shows. In many ways, I’ve been performing and storytelling ever since.

After graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy, I studied psycholinguistics and media business at NYU and began my marketing career at Showtime Networks in New York. I later moved to San Francisco, where I worked at Wunderman on Microsoft’s mobile account before stepping into the world of acting. That creative leap would eventually bring me to Los Angeles, where I spent several years working in hospitality while performing in commercials, theater, and on television.

In 2020, I returned to marketing. First with a Japanese marketing & PR agency in LA, then as the first employee and Head of Marketing at Motorenn, a luxury automotive startup. From UX strategy and fundraising decks to brand voice and content production, I wore every hat (and yes, occasionally washed the cars).

Along the way, I launched and hosted Ms. Money Moves, a podcast on women’s financial empowerment featured in Yahoo! Finance and CreditCards.com. These experiences laid the groundwork for Media Kamo, my boutique marketing and production studio. At Media Kamo, I’ve worked with nonprofits, creators, and financial institutions on everything from campaign strategy and event production to ghostwriting and book marketing. Highlights include leading the marketing for a bestselling book launch, producing an event featured in Forbes and captured by Getty, and helping clients sharpen their voice and engage their audience.

Today, I’m also the founder of Merobebe: a sharp, soulful platform that brings ambitious women together through wine, real talk, and unapologetic connection. A certified sommelier quoted in Wine Enthusiast and Forbes, I use wine as both invitation and metaphor to spark honest conversations and build space for women to be bold, brilliant, and wholly themselves. Our first event, Wine, Women & Wisdom, was featured in LA Weekly and brought together founders, CEOs, and creatives over woman-owned wines and big ideas.

When I’m not building brands or pouring bold reds, I’m annoying my cats and trying to keep my plants alive.
